What a superb event, well supported by an enthusiastic audience of approaching 200 people, and showing off the expertise of the five distinguished organists as well as showcasing Makin's instruments in the sympathetic acoustics of Holy Trinity, Southport, sometimes known as Southport's own cathedral !
Simon Lindley's witty and knowledgeable introductions were the perfect complement to a relaxed, but highly professional programme, containing some organ classics, some lighter items, and some 'hidden gems'.
The organisers of the 'Battle' should be congratulated on their initiative, be gratified that such a good audience turned out, and that unlike the 1683 Battle, this one was settled amicably, with no blood spilt, ( at least as far as the audience was aware ! ).
