Advent Carol Service
'From Darkness to Light'
6.00 pm Sunday, 27th November

For some of us, this is the most moving service of the year, which commences with Trinity shrouded in darkness save for the candles of the procession party and the congregation; as the service progresses, the light slowly increases, signifying the coming of the Light into the world with the birth of God’s son. The music commences at the back of the church with the beautiful Matin Responsory by Palestrina and moves in stages through the church until the choir and candle bearers eventually arrive by the high altar in the sanctuary where the choir sing the glorious Bach Advent Chorale, Wachet Auf - Sleepers Wake! There's lots more good music throughout the service.
You can also share some refreshments after the service

Do come and join us.

Thoroughly uplifted by the Advent service last night. The spiritual/ contemplative content was marvellous. Makes a pleasant change to experience thoughtful liturgy which is not " rushed through ". The music was certainly of cathedral standard.

My only crib would only be directed towards certain members of the congregation who seemed determined to out do the organ for volume during the concluding voluntary!
